چکیده
This study describes a novel T1-weighted MR molecular imaging approach for sparse epitopes, such as the avb3integrin receptor in atherosclerotic angiogenesis, utilizing a soft Mn-based nanoparticle with high-relaxivity augmented by minute amounts of surface gadolinium. This new agent utilizes about 1/30th the amount of lanthanide used for PFC paramagnetic particles and reduces gadolinium exposure by 300-fold compared with clinical single dose Gd-DTPA.

High signal intensities on T1-weighted MRI as a biomarker of exposure to manganese.
Increased signal in T1-weighted images was observed in the experimental manganese (Mn) poisoning of the non-human primate and a patient with Mn neurointoxication. However, our study showed that the increased signals in magnetic resonance images (MRI) were highly prevalent (41.6%) in Mn-exposed workers. Especially 73.5% of the welders showed increased signal intensities. Blood Mn concentration c...

In the present work, a novel non-lanthanide dual-modality contrast agent, manganese tungstate (MnWO4), has been successfully constructed by a facile and versatile hydrothermal route. With the merits of a high atomic number and a well-positioned K-edge energy of tungsten, our well-prepared non-lanthanide nanoprobes provide a higher contrast efficacy than routine iodine-based agents in clinics. متن کاملI-41: Imaging Strategy for Diagnosis of Adnexal Masses Including US,CT Scan and MRI
Adnexal masses are spectrum of diseases from benign non neoplastic and neoplastic masses to malignant neoplasms. Endovaginal ultrasonography (US) is the fisrt and invaluable modality for assessment of adnexal masses because it is available and has a high negative predictive value. Important morphologic features are solid (vascularized) tissue, vascular and thick septations, and papillary projec...
متن کاملGrey matter abnormalities in methcathinone abusers with a Parkinsonian syndrome
BACKGROUND A permanent Parkinsonian syndrome occurs in intravenous abusers of the designer psychostimulant methcathinone (ephedrone). It is attributed to deposition of contaminant manganese, as reflected by characteristic globus pallidus hyperintensity on T1-weighted MRI. METHODS We have investigated brain structure and function in methcathinone abusers (n = 12) compared to matched control su...
متن کاملDevelopment of Timd2 as a reporter gene for MRI
PURPOSE To assess the potential of an MRI gene reporter based on the ferritin receptor Timd2 (T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain containing protein 2), using T1- and T2-weighted imaging. METHODS Pellets of cells that had been modified to express the Timd2 transgene, and incubated with either iron-loaded or manganese-loaded ferritin, were imaged using T1- and T2-weighted MRI. Mice were als...
